Adult Handbell Choir
The Aldersgate Adult Handbell Choir has openings for both full- and part-time ringers. Full-time ringing means being available for third Sundays of the month, two services, from September through May, and most Tuesday nights (rehearsals from 7:00 to 8:15 p.m.) from late August through the second Tuesday in May. We do allow for personal and family reasons to miss rehearsals, and we sometimes have full-time ringers who need to be away for one of the Sundays. We can accommodate those needs when necessary.
Necessary musical skills to bring to ringing include the ability to read notes in either the treble or bass clefs (or both) and to be familiar with "counting" (understanding time signatures). There are various handbell techniques that are used, and they are best learned while actively ringing.
We hope that you would consider joining us, even if you are only available for one or two months of our ringing year. We are very short of substitute ringers, as well as having two or three full-time positions available in order to fill the thirteen positions of our five-octave handbell choir.
If you are interested, please contact the church office at 989-631-1151 (admin@aumcmidland.org) or the choir director, Chris Laitner, 989-636-7674 (adultbellchoir@aumcmidland.org). We're looking forward to welcoming new ringers!
